Job Title: Equip Gap Year Volunteer
Responsible to: Equip Programme Project Manager
Job Description
The Gap Year Volunteer will:
Take an active part in church and community activities, especially with
children, young people and families, following completion of training
Help to develop existing church and community activities and assist in setting
up new initiatives, especially with children, young people and families
Receive Bible teaching
Receive training and teaching in Christian living, Biblical principles,
leadership and discipleship
Have time for personal study and preparation for activities
Familiarise themselves with church members and key people in the
community, especially those involved with children, young people and families
Take part in a home group (or other small group) and prayer meetings
Shadow and learn from elders and church leaders
Meet regularly with a personal mentor
Receive continuous assessment and appraisal
Discover their gifts and skills
Be able to follow their passions
Be able to develop their leadership skills
Share ideas and learn from other churches
Attend Christian conferences and events
Observe and take part in inner-city projects
Requirements
A committed Christian able to commit to Emmanuel Community Churchs
Basis of Faith
An active member of your church
A self-starter with strong motivation and plenty of initiative
A team player
Able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds, especially children,
young people and families
Good communication skills in English
Willing to be under leadership and accept authority
Willing to learn from others
Creative skills to initiate and develop new community and church projects
Potential to develop leadership skills
Evidence of tenacity in previous activities and studies
Adaptable to the situation of their host family
Additional information
You must be over 18 and under 25 years old in September 2019
Our Equip Gap Year programme runs from September 2019 to the end of July
2020
You will be accountable to the church pastor
You will work 37 hours per week, including most Sundays with time off in lieu
You will have four weeks holiday, to be taken by agreement with our pastor. If
there are special circumstances we will consider special leave.
You will be expected to take part in prayer meetings and a home group
We will expect you to provide for your personal spending, including travel to
and from Duffield
We are able to offer you a small bursary if required
Satisfactory and active participation are required
We will require you to have a full a full DBS check
Your acceptance onto the programme is subject to satisfactory references,
including one from your church minister
EU students will be expected to pay for travel to and from Emmanuel
Community Church, passport and health insurance
Non-EU students should apply to Time for God who will then refer you to us.

We expect you to behave in a manner which protects the reputation of
Emmanuel Community Church
In the unlikely event of a disciplinary issue, we will use recognised good
